LUSAKA, Zambia — Law enforcement officials admitted difficulties apprehending former State House advisor Kaizar Zulu after an immigration officer informed a magistrate that the fugitive political figure has been frequently changing his place of residence to evade arrest.

Testifying before Lusaka Magistrate Sylvia Okoh on Thursday, immigration agent Friday Malimakau revealed Zulu has been elusive while police attempt to execute an outstanding bench warrant for the ex-prominent bureaucrat.

There are indicators that he has been changing places of abode, your honour,” Malimakau told the court. “We beg for more time to continue with the search.

MP and surety Mulenga Fube likewise urged extended time to facilitate Zulu’s appearance. Prosecutors succeeded in retaining the bench warrant against the former Edgar Lungu aide until at least February 15th.

Zulu faces charges for failing to surrender travel documents and report to immigration officials after his diplomatic passport privileges were revoked last October. But his continual movement from one suspected hideout to another has slowed efforts to haul him in.

Authorities admit they have actively been on the hunt for the high-profile former State House insider since he began flouting laws requiring handover of the revoked diplomatic passport. But Zulu has proven adept at avoiding apprehension so far.
